Для решения задачи введем систему координат. Пусть прямая, по которой проходит шоссе, будет осью абсцисс ($Ox$). Точку на шоссе, ближайшую к буровой вышке, обозначим как $A$ и поместим ее в начало координат $(0, 0)$. Тогда буровая вышка $B$ будет иметь координаты $(0, 9)$. Пункт назначения $C$, расположенный на шоссе в 15 км от точки $A$, будет иметь координаты $(15, 0)$.
Курьер должен доехать из точки $B(0, 9)$ до некоторой точки $D$ на шоссе, а затем по шоссе до точки $C(15, 0)$. Пусть точка $D$ имеет координаты $(x, 0)$, где $x$ — расстояние от точки $A$ до точки $D$. Маршрут курьера состоит из двух участков: $BD$ (по полю) и $DC$ (по шоссе).
1. Участок по полю (BD):
Расстояние $S_1$ этого участка найдем по теореме Пифагора для прямоугольного треугольника $ABD$:
$S_1 = BD = \sqrt{AD^2 + AB^2} = \sqrt{x^2 + 9^2} = \sqrt{x^2 + 81}$ км.
Скорость курьера по полю $v_1 = 8$ км/ч.
Время, затраченное на этот участок: $t_1 = \frac{S_1}{v_1} = \frac{\sqrt{x^2 + 81}}{8}$ ч.
2. Участок по шоссе (DC):
Расстояние $S_2$ этого участка:
$S_2 = DC = AC - AD = 15 - x$ км.
Предполагаем, что точка $D$ находится между $A$ и $C$, то есть $0 \le x \le 15$.
Скорость курьера по шоссе $v_2 = 10$ км/ч.
Время, затраченное на этот участок: $t_2 = \frac{S_2}{v_2} = \frac{15 - x}{10}$ ч.
Общее время в пути:
Общее время $T$ является функцией от $x$ и равно сумме времен на обоих участках:
$T(x) = t_1 + t_2 = \frac{\sqrt{x^2 + 81}}{8} + \frac{15 - x}{10}$.

Приравняем производную к нулю для нахождения критических точек:
$\frac{x}{8\sqrt{x^2 + 81}} - \frac{1}{10} = 0$
$\frac{x}{8\sqrt{x^2 + 81}} = \frac{1}{10}$
$10x = 8\sqrt{x^2 + 81}$.
Возведем обе части уравнения в квадрат, учитывая, что $x$ должно быть неотрицательным:
$100x^2 = 64(x^2 + 81)$
$100x^2 = 64x^2 + 64 \cdot 81$
$36x^2 = 64 \cdot 81$

$x = \sqrt{144} = 12$.
