Пусть дана пирамида, в основании которой лежит равнобедренный треугольник $ABC$ со сторонами $AB = AC = 3\sqrt{10}$ см и основанием $BC = 6$ см. Высота пирамиды $H = 5$ см.
По условию, все боковые ребра пирамиды равны. Это означает, что вершина пирамиды проецируется в центр окружности, описанной около треугольника-основания. Обозначим вершину пирамиды как $S$, а ее проекцию на основание как $O$. Тогда точка $O$ — центр описанной окружности треугольника $ABC$, а отрезки $OA$, $OB$, $OC$ равны радиусу $R$ этой окружности.
Боковое ребро (например, $SA$), высота пирамиды $SO$ и радиус описанной окружности $OA$ образуют прямоугольный треугольник $SOA$. По теореме Пифагора, квадрат длины бокового ребра $L$ равен сумме квадратов высоты $H$ и радиуса $R$: $L^2 = H^2 + R^2$. Для нахождения $L$ необходимо сначала вычислить радиус $R$.
