1. Различают два основных типа пищевых цепей: пастбищная (цепь выедания) и детритная (цепь разложения).
Основное различие между ними заключается в исходном звене, с которого начинается перенос энергии и вещества.
Пастбищная цепь начинается с живых автотрофных организмов — продуцентов (растений). Далее энергия передаётся по цепи к растительноядным животным (консументам I порядка), а затем к хищникам (консументам II, III и последующих порядков). Пример: растение → заяц → лиса.
Детритная цепь начинается с мёртвого органического вещества — детрита (остатков растений и животных). Детритом питаются редуценты (бактерии, грибы) и детритофаги (например, дождевые черви), которые, в свою очередь, служат пищей для других организмов. Пример: листовой опад → дождевой червь → крот.
