Для искусственно созданных экосистем (агроценозов, аквариумов, садов) характерны:
1. Бедность видового состава. Обычно доминирует один или несколько видов, полезных человеку (монокультура).
2. Короткие пищевые цепи. Отсутствуют сложные пищевые сети, мало консументов и редуцентов.
3. Отсутствие саморегуляции. Эти системы неустойчивы и не могут поддерживать себя без вмешательства человека.
4. Незамкнутый круговорот веществ. Человек изымает большую часть продукции (урожай), поэтому для восполнения питательных веществ требуется постоянное внесение удобрений.
5. Зависимость от дополнительной энергии. Помимо солнечной энергии, человек вкладывает дополнительную энергию (обработка почвы, полив, освещение, кормление).
Трудности, с которыми сталкивается человек для поддержания целостности таких сообществ:
1. Борьба с вредителями, болезнями и сорняками. Из-за отсутствия естественных врагов и конкурентов в упрощенной системе часто происходят вспышки численности нежелательных организмов, что требует применения химических или биологических средств защиты.
2. Истощение ресурсов. Постоянное изъятие биомассы приводит к обеднению почвы или воды питательными веществами, что заставляет человека постоянно вносить удобрения или корм.
3. Необходимость постоянного контроля и ухода. Искусственные экосистемы требуют регулярного полива, рыхления почвы, аэрации, поддержания определенной температуры и освещения, что является очень энерго- и трудозатратным.
4. Высокая уязвимость к внешним факторам. Малейшее изменение условий или прекращение ухода со стороны человека может привести к быстрой деградации и гибели всей системы.
