Our presentation is about Lev Davidovich Landau, a brilliant Soviet theoretical physicist. He was a true genius and made huge contributions to many areas of physics.
Наша презентация о Льве Давидовиче Ландау, гениальном советском физике-теоретике. Он был настоящим гением и внес огромный вклад во многие области физики.
Landau's most famous work is on the theory of superfluidity of liquid helium, for which he received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1962. He also developed the theory of phase transitions and created the concept of Landau damping in plasma physics. Together with Evgeny Lifshitz, he wrote the famous 'Course of Theoretical Physics', a series of books that is still used by students all over the world.
Самая известная работа Ландау — это теория сверхтекучести жидкого гелия, за которую он получил Нобелевскую премию по физике в 1962 году. Он также разработал теорию фазовых переходов и создал концепцию затухания Ландау в физике плазмы. Вместе с Евгением Лифшицем он написал знаменитый «Курс теоретической физики», серию книг, которой до сих пор пользуются студенты по всему миру.
An interesting fact is that Landau created a list of minimum knowledge, called the 'Theoretical Minimum', which every theoretical physicist should master. He was a very demanding teacher but also an inspiring figure for many young scientists. We believe he is one of the greatest minds of the 20th century.
Интересный факт: Ландау создал список минимальных знаний, названный «Теоретический минимум», которым должен овладеть каждый физик-теоретик. Он был очень требовательным учителем, но также и вдохновляющей фигурой для многих молодых ученых. Мы считаем его одним из величайших умов 20-го века.
