При пересечении двух прямых образуются смежные и вертикальные углы. Сумма смежных углов равна $180^\circ$, а вертикальные углы равны между собой.
По условию задачи, прямые $EF$ и $MK$ пересекаются в точке $A$. Нам дан один из углов, образованных при пересечении: $\angle EAK = 142^\circ$.
Углы $\angle EAK$ и $\angle KAF$ являются смежными, так как их стороны $AE$ и $AF$ лежат на одной прямой $EF$. Следовательно, их сумма равна $180^\circ$.
$\angle EAK + \angle KAF = 180^\circ$
Чтобы найти $\angle KAF$, вычтем из $180^\circ$ известный угол $\angle EAK$:
$\angle KAF = 180^\circ - \angle EAK = 180^\circ - 142^\circ = 38^\circ$
При пересечении прямых $EF$ и $MK$ образуются две пары вертикальных углов: $\angle EAK = \angle MAF = 142^\circ$ и $\angle KAF = \angle EAM = 38^\circ$.
Углом между двумя пересекающимися прямыми называется наименьший из углов, образованных при их пересечении. Сравнивая полученные углы, видим, что наименьший из них равен $38^\circ$.
Ответ: $38^\circ$
