Рассмотрим треугольник $ADC$, образованный вершинами $A$, $C$ и точкой $D$ на стороне $BC$.
По условию задачи, угол $C$ в треугольнике $ABC$ тупой, то есть $\angle C > 90^\circ$. Поскольку точка $D$ лежит на стороне $BC$, угол $\angle ACD$ в треугольнике $ADC$ совпадает с углом $\angle C$. Таким образом, $\angle ACD > 90^\circ$.
Сумма углов в любом треугольнике равна $180^\circ$. Для треугольника $ADC$ имеем: $\angle CAD + \angle ADC + \angle ACD = 180^\circ$.
Так как один из углов треугольника $ADC$ (а именно, $\angle ACD$) больше $90^\circ$, он является тупым. В треугольнике может быть только один тупой или прямой угол, поэтому остальные два угла, $\angle CAD$ и $\angle ADC$, должны быть острыми. В частности, это означает, что $\angle ADC < 90^\circ$.

Так как $\angle ACD > \angle ADC$, то и соответствующая противолежащая сторона $AD$ больше стороны $AC$. Таким образом, $AD > AC$, что и требовалось доказать.
Ответ: Утверждение доказано. В треугольнике $ADC$ угол $\angle ACD$ тупой, а значит, он больше острого угла $\angle ADC$. Следовательно, сторона $AD$, лежащая против большего угла $\angle ACD$, длиннее стороны $AC$, лежащей против меньшего угла $\angle ADC$.
