Рассмотрим окружность с центром в точке $O$ и радиусом $R$. Пусть $AB$ — произвольная хорда этой окружности, которая не является диаметром. Это означает, что хорда $AB$ не проходит через центр $O$.
Соединим концы хорды, точки $A$ и $B$, с центром окружности $O$. В результате мы получим треугольник $\triangle OAB$. Стороны этого треугольника — отрезки $OA$, $OB$ и $AB$.
Поскольку точки $A$ и $B$ лежат на окружности, отрезки $OA$ и $OB$ являются ее радиусами. Следовательно, их длины равны $R$: $OA = R$ и $OB = R$.
Применим к треугольнику $\triangle OAB$ неравенство треугольника, согласно которому любая сторона треугольника меньше суммы двух других его сторон. Для стороны $AB$ это неравенство будет выглядеть так: $AB < OA + OB$
Подставив в это неравенство значения длин сторон $OA$ и $OB$, получим: $AB < R + R$ $AB < 2R$
Диаметр окружности $D$ по определению равен удвоенному радиусу: $D = 2R$.
Таким образом, мы получаем, что длина любой хорды $AB$, не являющейся диаметром, строго меньше длины диаметра: $AB < D$. Что и требовалось доказать.
