Чтобы построить равнобедренный треугольник по заданным отрезкам — основанию $a$ и боковой стороне $b$ — с помощью циркуля и линейки без делений, необходимо выполнить следующую последовательность действий:
1. Начертить произвольную прямую и отметить на ней точку $A$.
2. С помощью циркуля измерить длину отрезка $a$ и отложить на прямой от точки $A$ отрезок $AC$, равный $a$. Отрезок $AC$ будет являться основанием искомого треугольника.
3. С помощью циркуля измерить длину отрезка $b$.
4. Установить ножку циркуля в точку $A$ и провести дугу окружности с радиусом, равным $b$.
5. Не меняя раствор циркуля, установить его ножку в точку $C$ и провести вторую дугу с тем же радиусом $b$ так, чтобы она пересекла первую дугу.
6. Точку пересечения двух дуг обозначить буквой $B$. Эта точка будет третьей вершиной треугольника.
7. С помощью линейки соединить отрезками точки $A$ и $B$, а также $B$ и $C$.
В результате этих действий будет построен треугольник $ABC$. Он является искомым, так как по построению его основание $AC$ равно заданному отрезку $a$, а боковые стороны $AB$ и $BC$ равны заданному отрезку $b$ (как радиусы окружностей, на пересечении дуг которых лежит точка $B$). Поскольку $AB = BC$, треугольник $ABC$ является равнобедренным.
Следует учесть, что построение возможно только при выполнении неравенства треугольника: сумма длин двух боковых сторон должна быть больше длины основания, то есть должно выполняться условие $b + b > a$, или $2b > a$. Если $2b \le a$, то дуги не пересекутся (или коснутся в точке, лежащей на прямой $AC$), и построить невырожденный треугольник будет невозможно.
Ответ: Треугольник $ABC$, построенный в соответствии с описанным алгоритмом, является искомым равнобедренным треугольником по заданным основанию и боковой стороне.
