В основе поддержания постоянства внутренней среды, или гомеостаза, лежат сложные механизмы саморегуляции.
Эти механизмы реализуются благодаря согласованной работе всех органов и систем, главным образом нервной и гуморальной (эндокринной).
Регуляция осуществляется по принципу обратной связи: отклонение какого-либо показателя от нормы запускает процессы, которые возвращают этот показатель к оптимальному значению.
