1) In ancient times, only one country, ancient Greece, took part in the Olympic Games. Now, athletes from almost every country in the world participate.
В древние времена в Олимпийских играх принимала участие только одна страна, Древняя Греция. Сейчас в них участвуют спортсмены почти из всех стран мира.
2) The ancient Greeks held the Olympic Games once every four years. This tradition continues today, but we also have the Winter Olympics, so there is an Olympic Games event every two years.
