День подарков – государственный праздник в Великобритании. Обычно его отмечают 26 декабря, на следующий день после Рождества. Некоторые историки считают, что праздник получил свое название из-за рождественских подарков в коробках, которые лорды и леди Англии дарили своим слугам 26 декабря. Другие полагают, что праздник назвали Днем подарков из-за священников, которые вскрывали ящики для пожертвований на следующий день после Рождества и раздавали деньги бедным. В наши дни День подарков – это день различных спортивных мероприятий, а также начало послерождественских распродаж.
