Масса куба: $\text{m}$
Перемещение по горизонтальной плоскости на расстояние $\text{L}$, где $L \gg a$
Коэффициент трения: $\mu$
Найти:
Определить, в каком случае для перемещения куба потребуется совершить меньшую работу.
Решение:
Для ответа на вопрос необходимо рассчитать работу, совершаемую при каждом из двух способов перемещения, и сравнить полученные результаты.
1. Перемещение «волоком»
При перемещении куба скольжением («волоком») по горизонтальной плоскости необходимо приложить силу, преодолевающую силу трения скольжения $F_{тр}$. При равномерном движении прикладываемая сила $F_1$ равна по модулю силе трения:
$F_1 = F_{тр} = \mu N$
Так как движение происходит по горизонтали, сила нормальной реакции опоры $\text{N}$ равна силе тяжести $\text{mg}$.
$F_1 = \mu mg$
Работа $A_1$, совершаемая для перемещения куба на расстояние $\text{L}$, равна:
$A_1 = F_1 \cdot L = \mu mgL$
2. Перемещение кантованием
При перемещении кантованием куб последовательно опрокидывается через одно из своих нижних ребер. За одно такое опрокидывание куб перемещается вперед на расстояние $\text{a}$. Чтобы переместить куб на расстояние $\text{L}$, потребуется совершить $n = L/a$ опрокидываний.
Работа при одном опрокидывании ($A_{кант}$) совершается против силы тяжести. Она равна минимальному изменению потенциальной энергии, которое необходимо для того, чтобы куб достиг положения неустойчивого равновесия. Это положение достигается, когда центр масс куба оказывается точно над ребром, служащим осью вращения.
Начальная высота центра масс куба (геометрического центра) над плоскостью составляет $h_1 = a/2$.
Максимальная высота центра масс в процессе опрокидывания $h_2$ равна расстоянию от ребра вращения до центра масс, которое равно половине диагонали грани куба:
$h_2 = \frac{a\sqrt{2}}{2}$
Работа, совершаемая за одно опрокидывание, равна:
$A_{кант} = \Delta E_p = mg(h_2 - h_1) = mg(\frac{a\sqrt{2}}{2} - \frac{a}{2}) = mga\frac{\sqrt{2}-1}{2}$
Полная работа $A_2$ при перемещении на расстояние $\text{L}$ путем $\text{n}$ опрокидываний составляет:
$A_2 = n \cdot A_{кант} = \frac{L}{a} \cdot mga\frac{\sqrt{2}-1}{2} = mgL\frac{\sqrt{2}-1}{2}$
Сравнение работ
Теперь сравним работу, совершаемую в обоих случаях.
Работа при перемещении «волоком»: $A_1 = \mu mgL$
Работа при кантовании: $A_2 = mgL\frac{\sqrt{2}-1}{2}$
Чтобы определить, какой способ выгоднее, нужно сравнить коэффициент трения $\mu$ с постоянной величиной $\frac{\sqrt{2}-1}{2}$.
Вычислим приближенное значение этой величины:
$\frac{\sqrt{2}-1}{2} \approx \frac{1.414 - 1}{2} = \frac{0.414}{2} = 0.207$
Таким образом, если $\mu > \frac{\sqrt{2}-1}{2}$, то $A_1 > A_2$, и кантование требует меньше работы. Если $\mu < \frac{\sqrt{2}-1}{2}$, то $A_1 < A_2$, и перемещение «волоком» требует меньше работы. Если же $\mu = \frac{\sqrt{2}-1}{2}$, то работы равны.
Ответ:
Выбор способа перемещения, требующего меньшей работы, зависит от коэффициента трения $\mu$:
• если $\mu < \frac{\sqrt{2}-1}{2} \approx 0.207$, то меньше работы потребуется при перемещении «волоком»;
• если $\mu > \frac{\sqrt{2}-1}{2} \approx 0.207$, то меньше работы потребуется при перемещении кантованием;
• если $\mu = \frac{\sqrt{2}-1}{2} \approx 0.207$, то работа в обоих случаях будет одинаковой.
