1. Изготовьте волосной гигрометр (гигроскоп). Для этого закрепите на листе картона или фанеры с помощью булавки лёгкую стрелку из тонкого картона, как показано на рисунке 41. Прикрепите с помощью клея или пластилина волос длиной приблизительно 10 см, предварительно протёртый одеколоном для обезжиривания, к стрелке в точке A и к картону в точке B (см. рис. 41). Шкала должна быть нарисована заранее. Ваш гигроскоп готов. Проверьте его в действии.
Вертикально поставьте прибор над батареей отопления около окна. Отметьте положение стрелки. Теперь включите в ванной горячий душ и через несколько минут (лучше это сделать, когда запотеет зеркало в ванной) внесите туда изготовленный вами прибор. Отметьте перемещение стрелки.

1. Данное задание описывает создание и проверку волосяного гигроскопа — прибора, который демонстрирует изменение относительной влажности воздуха. Его работа основана на физическом свойстве обезжиренного волоса изменять свою длину.
Принцип действия и конструкция
Основой прибора является человеческий или конский волос, который предварительно обезжиривают (например, протирая одеколоном), чтобы он мог легко поглощать и отдавать влагу. Обезжиренный волос обладает гигроскопичностью:
- При увеличении относительной влажности воздуха волос поглощает молекулы воды и удлиняется.
- При уменьшении относительной влажности волос высыхает и его длина уменьшается.
В конструкции гигроскопа это свойство используется для приведения в движение лёгкой стрелки. Один конец волоса неподвижно закрепляется на основании прибора (точка B). Другой конец крепится к стрелке, которая может свободно вращаться вокруг оси (точка A). Важно, чтобы точка крепления волоса к стрелке находилась на некотором расстоянии от оси вращения A. Только в этом случае изменение длины волоса будет создавать вращающий момент, который и заставит стрелку поворачиваться. Таким образом, изменение длины волоса преобразуется в угловое перемещение стрелки по заранее нарисованной шкале.
Проверка действия прибора (эксперимент)
Для проверки работоспособности гигроскопа его помещают в условия с контрастной влажностью.
1. Над батареей отопления
Воздух вблизи отопительных приборов нагревается, и его относительная влажность значительно понижается. В этой сухой среде волос отдаст влагу и станет короче. Укорачиваясь, волос натянет стрелку и заставит её отклониться в определённую сторону по шкале. Это положение будет соответствовать низкой влажности.
2. В ванной с горячим паром
В ванной комнате, где включен горячий душ, воздух насыщается водяным паром, и его относительная влажность стремится к 100%. Об этом свидетельствует конденсация пара на холодных поверхностях (запотевшее зеркало). В такой влажной среде волос будет поглощать влагу из воздуха и удлиняться. Удлинение волоса ослабит его натяжение, и стрелка (под действием силы тяжести, если центр масс смещён, или небольшого противовеса) отклонится по шкале в противоположную сторону. Это положение будет соответствовать высокой влажности.
Таким образом, наблюдаемые перемещения стрелки подтверждают, что изготовленный прибор реагирует на изменения относительной влажности воздуха.
Ответ: При помещении прибора над батареей стрелка отклонится в одну сторону, так как из-за низкой влажности волос укоротится. При переносе прибора в ванную с горячим паром стрелка отклонится в противоположную сторону, так как из-за высокой влажности волос удлинится. Это явление объясняется свойством обезжиренного волоса изменять свою длину в зависимости от относительной влажности окружающего воздуха.
