Но и предметы на этих факультетах имели свои традиции. Почему несмотря на огромнейшую роль религии в жизни России, Московский университет многие десятилетия оставался единственным университетом мира, в котором не было богословского Факультета? Изложите свое мнение по данному вопросу в Форме короткого эссе.

Университет - это не просто высшее учебное заведение. Это корпорация преподавателей и студентов, защищающих свои права, на основании этого имеющие привилегии и автономию. Этого у российских университетов никогда не было, несмотря на их названия.
Но также университет - это и набор других традиций, не только прав и автономии. Это отлично знали и основатель Московского университета Ломоносов, учившийся в Германии, и покровитель университета граф Шувалов, который был вельможей, а значит частью своеобразного европейского сообщества аристократов, где вельможи из разных стран были друг другу ближе, чем каждый из них даже к мелкому дворянству своей страны, не говоря уже о крестьянах. Создатели Московского университета европейские университетские традиции чувствовали буквально интуитивно.
Среди этих традиций был и набор университетов, которые включали отделения философский, богословский, медицинский и юридический. Но и предметы на этих факультетах имели свои традиции. Богословские факультеты формировались в католической Европе, традиции и набор предметов там были соответствующие, не очень подходившие для православия. Поэтому, чтобы в Московском университете появился богословский факультет, требовалось как минимум много работы над его учебной программой.
Возникала проблема и с преподавателями для такого факультета. Проблемы были с преподавателями для всего университета, про что вспоминал Ломоносов, но с богословским факультетом они были бы особенно большими. Университетский способ преподавания был знаком, прежде всего, иностранным специалистам, католикам и протестантам. А российские православные богословы сделали бы из факультета ещё одну семинарию, а не часть университета.
При этом особого смысла решать все эти проблемы не было: в России уже было высшее учебное заведение для духовенства, которое удовлетворяло соответствующие нужды страны, а именно Славяно-греко-латинская академия.
Таким образом, создание богословского факультета при Московском университете было бы нецелесообразно, для этого не стоило преодолевать многочисленные проблемы по переформатированию европейского опыта для православной страны. А Московский университет создавался, прежде всего, как русский, не для иностранцев, потому хорошо вписался в борьбу с бироновщиной, но в результате получился исключительно православным по составу как преподавателей, так и студентов.
