Зеркала, расположенные справа и слева от водителя в крупногабаритных транспортных средствах, таких как трамваи, троллейбусы и автобусы, называются зеркалами заднего вида. Они выполняют несколько критически важных функций, направленных на обеспечение безопасности дорожного движения:
1. Ликвидация "слепых зон": Из-за большой длины и высоты этих транспортных средств вокруг них образуются значительные области, которые водитель не может видеть напрямую. Зеркала позволяют контролировать эти "слепые" (или "мертвые") зоны, в которых могут находиться другие автомобили, велосипедисты или пешеходы.

Каким образом проводится настройка зеркал заднего вида
Правильная настройка зеркал заднего вида — залог максимального обзора и минимизации "слепых зон". Настройка должна производиться индивидуально для каждого водителя, когда он сидит на своем месте в естественной рабочей позе.
Процесс настройки следующий:
1. Настройка левого бокового зеркала: Водитель должен отрегулировать зеркало так, чтобы в его правом (внутреннем) краю отражалась лишь небольшая часть левого борта его транспортного средства (примерно 1/4 или меньше от площади зеркала). Остальная, большая часть зеркала, должна показывать дорогу сбоку и позади.
2. Настройка правого бокового зеркала: Настройка производится аналогично. В левом (внутреннем) краю зеркала должна быть видна небольшая часть правого борта транспортного средства.
3. Настройка по вертикали: По высоте зеркала настраивают так, чтобы линия горизонта проходила примерно посередине зеркала или чуть ниже. Это дает сбалансированный обзор как самой дороги, так и обстановки на ней.
Современные транспортные средства часто оснащаются дополнительными сферическими (выпуклыми) зеркалами, которые дают панорамный обзор и еще больше сокращают "слепые зоны". Они настраиваются так, чтобы охватывать области, невидимые в основных зеркалах, например, пространство непосредственно у колес или вдоль борта.
