Солнечная «печка» или солнечная печь — это установка, которая использует концентрированную солнечную энергию для получения очень высоких температур. Она является одним из видов гелиоустановок (устройств, использующих энергию Солнца) и представляет собой мощный инструмент для науки и промышленности.
Принцип её действия основан на концентрации солнечных лучей в одной точке (фокусе) с помощью системы зеркал. Солнечный свет, приходящий от удаленного Солнца, можно считать параллельным пучком лучей. Когда эти лучи отражаются от вогнутой параболической поверхности, они, согласно законам геометрической оптики, собираются в одной точке — фокусе. В этой точке концентрируется огромное количество световой энергии, которая преобразуется в тепловую, что позволяет достигать температур в несколько тысяч градусов Цельсия.
Типичная крупная солнечная печь состоит из двух основных зеркальных систем. Первая система — это поле гелиостатов. Гелиостаты представляют собой множество плоских зеркал, которые оснащены системой слежения за Солнцем и автоматически поворачиваются так, чтобы постоянно отражать солнечные лучи в одном и том же направлении, независимо от положения Солнца на небе. Вторая система — это концентратор. Это большое стационарное параболическое зеркало (или мозаика из множества небольших зеркал, образующих параболоид), на которое гелиостаты направляют собранный ими солнечный свет. Концентратор, в свою очередь, фокусирует весь этот свет в небольшой области — фокальной зоне, где и располагается нагреваемый объект (например, тигель для плавки материалов).
Благодаря возможности получать сверхвысокие температуры без загрязнения продуктами сгорания, солнечные печи находят применение в различных областях. В научных исследованиях их используют для изучения свойств материалов при экстремальных температурах, например, для аэрокосмической отрасли или ядерной энергетики. В промышленности — для плавки тугоплавких металлов и оксидов, получения сверхчистых материалов и производства наноматериалов. В энергетике — для производства водорода путем высокотемпературного разложения воды. В экологии — для переработки и обезвреживания опасных отходов.
