Поскольку $ABCD$ — ромб, все его стороны равны: $AB = BC = CD = DA = a$. Противоположные стороны параллельны, в частности, $AD \parallel BC$. Сумма углов, прилежащих к одной стороне, равна $180^\circ$. Так как по условию $\angle ABC = 60^\circ$, то $\angle BCD = 180^\circ - 60^\circ = 120^\circ$.
Точка $M$ делит сторону $BC$ в отношении $BM : MC = 1 : 2$. Длина стороны $BC = a$, следовательно, $BM = \frac{1}{1+2} BC = \frac{1}{3}a$ и $MC = \frac{2}{1+2} BC = \frac{2}{3}a$.

Для нахождения длины отрезка $MK$ воспользуемся методом достроения. Проведем через точку $K$ прямую, параллельную стороне $CD$, до пересечения с прямой $BC$ в точке $N$. Полученный четырехугольник $KNDC$ является параллелограммом, так как $KN \parallel DC$ по построению, а $KD \parallel NC$ как отрезки параллельных прямых $AD$ и $BC$.
Из свойств параллелограмма $KNDC$ следует, что его противоположные стороны равны: $KN = DC = a$ и $NC = KD = \frac{1}{3}a$.
Рассмотрим треугольник $\triangle KMN$. Найдем длины двух его сторон и угол между ними.
Сторона $MN$: Точки $M$, $N$, $C$ лежат на одной прямой $BC$. Отсчитывая от точки $C$, мы имеем $MC = \frac{2}{3}a$ и $NC = \frac{1}{3}a$. Это означает, что точка $N$ лежит на отрезке $MC$. Длина отрезка $MN$ равна разности длин отрезков $MC$ и $NC$:
