Пусть дана трапеция ABCD, где основаниями являются AD и BC. По условию задачи имеем:
меньшее основание $a = BC = 5$ см;
большее основание $b = AD = 12$ см;
диагональ $d_1 = AC = 9$ см;
диагональ $d_2 = BD = 10$ см.
Для нахождения площади трапеции воспользуемся методом дополнительного построения. Проведем через вершину C прямую, параллельную диагонали BD, до ее пересечения с продолжением основания AD в точке E.
Рассмотрим получившийся четырехугольник BCED. В нем:
1. Стороны BC и DE лежат на параллельных прямых (так как BC и AD — основания трапеции).
2. Стороны BD и CE параллельны по построению.
Следовательно, четырехугольник BCED — параллелограмм.
Из свойств параллелограмма следует, что противоположные стороны равны:
$CE = BD = 10$ см.
$DE = BC = 5$ см.
Теперь рассмотрим треугольник ACE. Его стороны:
$AC = 9$ см (по условию).
$CE = 10$ см (как показано выше).
$AE = AD + DE = 12 + 5 = 17$ см.
Площадь трапеции ABCD равна площади треугольника ACE. Докажем это. Пусть $h$ — высота трапеции, проведенная к основанию AD. Эта же высота является высотой треугольника ACE, проведенной к стороне AE.
Площадь трапеции: $S_{ABCD} = \frac{BC + AD}{2} \cdot h$.
Площадь треугольника ACE: $S_{\triangle ACE} = \frac{1}{2} AE \cdot h = \frac{AD + DE}{2} \cdot h$.
Так как $DE = BC$, то $S_{ABCD} = S_{\triangle ACE}$.
Найдем площадь треугольника ACE, зная длины всех его трех сторон (9 см, 10 см, 17 см), по формуле Герона:
$S = \sqrt{p(p-s_1)(p-s_2)(p-s_3)}$, где $p$ — полупериметр, а $s_1, s_2, s_3$ — длины сторон.
Вычислим полупериметр $p$:
$p = \frac{9 + 10 + 17}{2} = \frac{36}{2} = 18$ см.
Теперь подставим значения в формулу Герона:
$S_{\triangle ACE} = \sqrt{18 \cdot (18-9) \cdot (18-10) \cdot (18-17)} = \sqrt{18 \cdot 9 \cdot 8 \cdot 1} = \sqrt{1296} = 36$ см$^2$.
Поскольку площадь трапеции равна площади этого треугольника, то площадь трапеции составляет 36 см$^2$.
