В данных пословицах заключены суждения, основанные на жизненных наблюдениях и моральных установках. Они отражают народное представление о правде, силе, честности и двуличии.
1) Правая рука всегда правее. В этой пословице заключено суждение о том, что сильная или доминирующая сторона всегда оказывается победительницей в споре или конфликте, ее мнение или действие признается правильным. Иными словами, сила на стороне того, кто прав, или тот, кто силен, всегда выставляет себя правым.
2) Правша левшу вперёд не пустит. Суждение сводится к тому, что тот, кто обладает преимуществом, силой или влиянием (в данном случае, большинство-правши), не уступит своих позиций более слабому или тому, кто в меньшинстве (левша). Это отражает идею конкуренции, в которой сильный не дает дорогу слабому.
3) Правая рука по правде живёт. Здесь выражена мысль о том, что честный человек поступает правильно и справедливо. «Правая рука» символизирует правильные, честные дела, которые находятся в гармонии с правдой и совестью. Суждение утверждает единство правильности и правдивости.
4) Говорит направо, а глядит налево. В этой пословице осуждается двуличный, лживый человек. Его слова («говорит направо», то есть правильно, открыто) не соответствуют его скрытым намерениям или поступкам («глядит налево», то есть замышляет что-то недоброе, нечестное). Это суждение о лицемерии и коварстве.
5) Толковый сын — правый глаз отца. Здесь заключено суждение о ценности надежного помощника и преемника. Умный и деятельный сын является главной опорой, гордостью и самым ценным, что есть у отца, подобно «правому глазу» или «правой руке», которые незаменимы для человека.
Их иносказательный смысл основан на многовековом символическом противопоставлении «правого» и «левого». В языке и культуре за словом «правый» закрепились положительные значения: «правда», «правильный», «справедливый», «сильный», «главный». Это связано с тем, что правая рука у большинства людей является ведущей и более сильной. Напротив, слово «левый» часто несет негативные коннотации: «неправильный», «неуклюжий», «нечестный» (например, «левый товар», «ходить налево»). Таким образом, пословицы используют эту игру слов (полисемию) и переносят физические и бытовые реалии на оценку социальных и моральных явлений.
