Notes for a Talk on Fighting Discrimination
1. What is discrimination?
- It's when you treat someone unfairly just because they are different.
- It can be about their skin color, their religion, if they are a boy or a girl, or if they have a disability.
- It's hurtful and it's wrong because everyone should be treated with respect.
2. Examples (my own ideas):
- Not letting someone play with you because their family is from another country.
- Making fun of a classmate because of how they talk or what they believe.
- A girl in my class was told she couldn't play football because "it's a boy's game". That's discrimination based on gender.
3. How to fight/end discrimination:
- Speak up! If you see something, say something. Tell the person to stop, and check if the person who was treated badly is okay.
- Be a friend. Include everyone in your games and activities. Don't leave people out.
- Learn about others. The more you know about different people and cultures, the more you'll understand that we're all pretty similar.
- Tell an adult. If you see bullying or discrimination, tell a teacher or your parents. They can help.

3. Как бороться/покончить с дискриминацией:
- Высказывайся! Если что-то видишь, скажи об этом. Скажи человеку, чтобы он прекратил, и спроси, все ли в порядке с тем, с кем плохо обошлись.
- Будь другом. Приглашай всех в свои игры и занятия. Никого не оставляй в стороне.
- Узнавай о других. Чем больше ты знаешь о разных людях и культурах, тем больше понимаешь, что мы все очень похожи.
- Расскажи взрослому. Если видишь травлю или дискриминацию, скажи учителю или родителям. Они могут помочь.
