Две геометрические фигуры называют равными (или конгруэнтными), если их можно совместить наложением так, что они полностью совпадут. Это значит, что равные фигуры имеют одинаковую форму и одинаковые размеры. Интуитивно это можно представить как возможность мысленно или физически переместить одну фигуру (не растягивая и не изгибая) так, чтобы она в точности наложилась на вторую.
В строгой геометрии это «перемещение» называется движением или изометрическим преобразованием — преобразованием, которое сохраняет расстояния между точками. Существует три основных вида движения на плоскости: параллельный перенос, поворот и осевая симметрия (зеркальное отражение). Таким образом, две фигуры равны, если одну можно получить из другой с помощью одного или нескольких из этих движений.
Равенство фигур $F_1$ и $F_2$ обозначается как $F_1 = F_2$ или, более точно, с помощью знака конгруэнтности: $F_1 \cong F_2$. Важным следствием равенства фигур является то, что все их соответствующие элементы также равны. Например, у равных многоугольников будут равны соответствующие стороны, углы, диагонали, а также их периметры и площади. У равных окружностей будут равны радиусы.
Ответ: Две фигуры называют равными, если они имеют одинаковую форму и размеры, то есть их можно совместить друг с другом путем наложения.
