Равнобедренным называется треугольник, у которого две стороны равны между собой. Именно эти две равные стороны и получили название боковых сторон. Третья сторона, которая может иметь отличную от них длину, называется основанием треугольника.
Например, если в треугольнике $\triangle ABC$ выполняется равенство $AB = BC$, то стороны $AB$ и $BC$ являются боковыми, а сторона $AC$ является основанием. Углы при основании ($\angle BAC$ и $\angle BCA$) в равнобедренном треугольнике также равны.
Ответ: Боковыми сторонами равнобедренного треугольника называют две его равные по длине стороны.
