Множество всех точек плоскости, равноудалённых от концов отрезка, представляет собой прямую, которая перпендикулярна данному отрезку и проходит через его середину. Такая прямая носит название серединный перпендикуляр к отрезку.
Чтобы доказать это, необходимо рассмотреть и доказать две взаимно обратные теоремы.
Пусть нам дан отрезок $AB$.
Прямая теорема: любая точка, равноудалённая от концов отрезка, лежит на его серединном перпендикуляре.
Возьмём произвольную точку $M$, для которой выполняется условие равенства расстояний до концов отрезка $A$ и $B$, то есть $MA = MB$.
Соединим точку $M$ с точками $A$ и $B$. Мы получим треугольник $\triangle AMB$. Поскольку по условию $MA = MB$, этот треугольник является равнобедренным с основанием $AB$.
Пусть точка $O$ — это середина отрезка $AB$. Тогда отрезок $MO$ является медианой треугольника $\triangle AMB$, проведённой к основанию.
По свойству равнобедренного треугольника, медиана, проведённая к основанию, является также и высотой. Это означает, что отрезок $MO$ перпендикулярен основанию $AB$, то есть $MO \perp AB$.
Таким образом, точка $M$ лежит на прямой, проходящей через середину отрезка $AB$ и перпендикулярной ему. По определению, эта прямая и есть серединный перпендикуляр к отрезку $AB$.
Обратная теорема: любая точка, лежащая на серединном перпендикуляре к отрезку, равноудалена от его концов.
Возьмём произвольную точку $M$, которая лежит на серединном перпендикуляре к отрезку $AB$. Пусть $O$ — середина отрезка $AB$.
По определению серединного перпендикуляра, прямая $MO$ проходит через середину $O$ отрезка $AB$ (значит, $AO = OB$) и перпендикулярна ему (значит, $\angle MOA = \angle MOB = 90^\circ$).
Рассмотрим два прямоугольных треугольника: $\triangle MOA$ и $\triangle MOB$. В этих треугольниках катет $AO$ равен катету $BO$, а катет $MO$ является общим.
Следовательно, треугольники $\triangle MOA$ и $\triangle MOB$ равны по двум катетам. Из равенства треугольников следует равенство их соответствующих сторон, в данном случае — гипотенуз: $MA = MB$.
Это доказывает, что любая точка на серединном перпендикуляре равноудалена от концов отрезка.
Совокупность этих двух доказанных теорем и определяет, что искомое геометрическое место точек — это серединный перпендикуляр.
Ответ: Точки, равноудалённые от концов отрезка, находятся на серединном перпендикуляре к этому отрезку.
