Для доказательства используем метод от противного. Пусть дан треугольник $ABC$, в котором стороны $AB$ и $BC$ не равны ($AB \neq BC$), а $BD$ — медиана, проведенная к стороне $AC$.
Предположим обратное тому, что требуется доказать: пусть медиана $BD$ является высотой треугольника $ABC$.
Рассмотрим, к каким выводам приводит это предположение.
1. Так как $BD$ — медиана, то по определению она делит сторону $AC$ пополам. Следовательно, $AD = DC$.
2. Так как $BD$ — высота (согласно нашему предположению), то по определению она перпендикулярна стороне $AC$. Следовательно, $\angle BDA = \angle BDC = 90^\circ$.
Теперь рассмотрим треугольники $\triangle ABD$ и $\triangle CBD$. В этих треугольниках:
- сторона $AD$ равна стороне $DC$ (поскольку $BD$ — медиана);
- сторона $BD$ является общей;
- угол $\angle BDA$ равен углу $\angle BDC$ (оба по $90^\circ$, поскольку $BD$ — высота по предположению).
Таким образом, треугольники $\triangle ABD$ и $\triangle CBD$ равны по первому признаку равенства треугольников (по двум сторонам и углу между ними).
Из равенства треугольников следует равенство их соответствующих сторон. В частности, $AB = BC$.
Однако этот вывод ($AB = BC$) противоречит исходному условию задачи, согласно которому $AB \neq BC$.
Поскольку наше предположение привело к противоречию, оно является неверным. Следовательно, медиана $BD$ не является высотой, если стороны $AB$ и $BC$ не равны.
Ответ: Утверждение доказано. Если стороны $AB$ и $BC$ треугольника $ABC$ не равны, то его медиана $BD$ не является его высотой.
