Чтобы найти, при каких значениях $x$ функция $y=x^2$ принимает положительные значения, необходимо решить неравенство $y > 0$.
Подставим выражение для функции в неравенство:
$x^2 > 0$
Квадрат любого действительного числа является неотрицательной величиной, то есть $x^2 \ge 0$ для всех $x$. Равенство нулю достигается только при $x = 0$. Следовательно, строгое неравенство $x^2 > 0$ выполняется для всех действительных значений $x$, кроме $x = 0$.
Это можно записать в виде объединения двух интервалов.
Ответ: $x \in (-\infty; 0) \cup (0; +\infty)$.

Чтобы найти, при каких значениях $x$ функция $y=x^2$ принимает значения из промежутка $[1; 4]$, необходимо решить двойное неравенство $1 \le y \le 4$.
Подставим выражение для функции:

Это неравенство равносильно системе из двух неравенств:
$\begin{cases} x^2 \ge 1 \\ x^2 \le 4 \end{cases}$
Решим первое неравенство $x^2 \ge 1$:

$(x-1)(x+1) \ge 0$

Теперь найдем пересечение полученных решений, так как оба неравенства должны выполняться одновременно. Нам нужно найти пересечение множеств $(-\infty; -1] \cup [1; +\infty)$ и $[-2; 2]$.
Пересечение этих множеств состоит из двух интервалов: $[-2; -1]$ и $[1; 2]$.
Ответ: $x \in [-2; -1] \cup [1; 2]$.
