а) Данная последовательность является бесконечно убывающей геометрической прогрессией. Первый член прогрессии $b_1 = 8$. Найдем знаменатель прогрессии $q$, разделив второй член на первый: $q = \frac{-4}{8} = -\frac{1}{2}$. Модуль знаменателя $|q| = |-\frac{1}{2}| = \frac{1}{2}$, что меньше 1, следовательно, мы можем применить формулу суммы бесконечно убывающей геометрической прогрессии $S = \frac{b_1}{1 - q}$. Подставляем наши значения: $S = \frac{8}{1 - (-\frac{1}{2})} = \frac{8}{1 + \frac{1}{2}} = \frac{8}{\frac{3}{2}} = 8 \cdot \frac{2}{3} = \frac{16}{3}$.Ответ: $\frac{16}{3}$
б) В этой геометрической прогрессии первый член $b_1 = 7$. Найдем знаменатель прогрессии: $q = \frac{-\frac{21}{4}}{7} = -\frac{21}{4 \cdot 7} = -\frac{3}{4}$.
