12. Днём окна домов всегда кажутся более тёмными, чем их стены (вне зависимости от цвета стен). Объясните причину этого явления.

Решение
Это оптическое явление объясняется различиями во взаимодействии солнечного света со стенами и окнами дома, а также особенностями нашего зрительного восприятия.
Днём основной источник света — солнце — находится снаружи. Свет падает как на стены, так и на окна здания.
1. Стены дома. Стены являются непрозрачными (опаковыми) объектами. Когда солнечный свет падает на них, он частично поглощается, а частично отражается. Именно этот отражённый свет попадает в глаза наблюдателю, позволяя нам видеть стену и её цвет. Даже если стена тёмного цвета, она всё равно отражает достаточное количество света, чтобы быть ярко освещённой по сравнению с неосвещённым пространством.
2. Окна дома. Оконное стекло, в отличие от стены, является прозрачным. Большая часть света, падающего на окно, не отражается, а проходит сквозь него внутрь помещения. Внутреннее пространство комнаты освещено значительно слабее, чем улица, так как свет туда попадает только через ограниченную площадь окон. Этот свет, попав внутрь, рассеивается, многократно отражается от внутренних стен, мебели и потолка, при этом значительная его часть поглощается. В результате лишь очень малая доля света выходит обратно наружу через окно и достигает глаз наблюдателя.
Таким образом, количество света, отражённого от ярко освещённой наружной стены, несоизмеримо больше, чем количество света, выходящего из относительно тёмного помещения через окно. Наш глаз воспринимает эту разницу в интенсивности световых потоков, и на контрасте с яркой стеной окно кажется тёмным, почти чёрным. По сути, окно днём ведёт себя подобно "световой ловушке" или модели абсолютно чёрного тела: оно поглощает (пропускает внутрь) почти весь падающий на него свет и практически ничего не излучает обратно.
Ответ:
Окна кажутся тёмными, так как они пропускают большую часть падающего на них дневного света внутрь помещения, откуда обратно к наблюдателю выходит очень мало света. Стены же, напротив, отражают значительную часть падающего на них солнечного света. Из-за этой существенной разницы в интенсивности света, попадающего в наши глаза от стен и от окон, последние воспринимаются как тёмные на фоне ярких стен.
