Пусть $K, L, N, P$ — середины сторон $AB, BC, CD$ и $DA$ четырехугольника $ABCD$ соответственно. По условию, отрезки $KN$ и $LP$, соединяющие середины противоположных сторон, пересекаются в точке $M$. Точка $O$ — произвольная точка пространства.
Рассмотрим четырехугольник $KLNP$. Согласно теореме Вариньона, фигура, образованная последовательным соединением середин сторон любого четырехугольника, является параллелограммом. Следовательно, $KLNP$ — параллелограмм.
В любом параллелограмме диагонали пересекаются и точкой пересечения делятся пополам. Точка $M$ является точкой пересечения диагоналей $KN$ и $LP$ параллелограмма $KLNP$. Таким образом, точка $M$ является серединой каждой из этих диагоналей.
Рассмотрим диагональ $KN$. Поскольку $M$ — ее середина, радиус-вектор точки $M$ (с началом в произвольной точке $O$) можно выразить через радиус-векторы точек $K$ и $N$ по формуле середины отрезка:
