Пучки света от автомобильных фар становятся видимыми в тумане или в пыльном воздухе благодаря физическому явлению, называемому рассеянием света. Сам по себе свет невидим, мы можем видеть либо его источник, либо объекты, от которых он отразился и попал нам в глаза.
В идеально чистом воздухе, где нет взвешенных частиц (пыли, капель воды и т.д.), световой луч от фар распространяется прямолинейно и невидим для наблюдателя, смотрящего на него сбоку. Свет просто проходит сквозь воздух, не взаимодействуя с ним таким образом, чтобы стать видимым со стороны.
Однако туман состоит из огромного количества мельчайших капелек воды, а пыльный воздух — из частиц пыли. Эти частицы, находясь на пути светового луча, становятся для него препятствиями. Когда фотоны света сталкиваются с этими частицами, они меняют свое направление, то есть рассеиваются. Каждая капелька воды или пылинка начинает работать как крошечный вторичный источник света, излучая свет во все стороны.
Часть этого рассеянного света от множества частиц, находящихся вдоль всего пути луча, попадает в глаза наблюдателя. Поскольку наш глаз и мозг воспринимают этот свет, приходящий со всех точек траектории луча, мы видим эту траекторию как светящийся конус или столб. Таким образом, мы видим не сам луч света, а свечение бесчисленного множества частиц, освещённых этим лучом.
Ответ: Пучки света автомобильных фар видны в тумане и в пыльном воздухе из-за рассеяния света на мельчайших частицах, взвешенных в воздухе. В тумане это капельки воды, в пыльном воздухе — частицы пыли. Эти частицы, попадая в луч света, рассеивают его во все стороны. Часть рассеянного света попадает в глаза наблюдателя, находящегося сбоку, в результате чего путь светового луча становится видимым.
